Uganda: 26 Injured As Bus Overturns in Arua

What the report says
At least 26 passengers were injured when a Nile Star bus overturned on the Arua-Nebbi highway in northwestern Uganda, according to a report carried by Nile Post and distributed by AllAfrica. The crash happened on Monday night, November 2, at Enzeva Village as the vehicle was traveling from Arua City toward Kampala.
Police said the bus, a yellow Isuzu with registration UBF 621T, left the road after the driver tried to overtake a trailer on a narrow section of highway and lost control. No fatalities had been reported as of the latest update, but injured passengers were taken for treatment at Arua Regional Referral Hospital and Kuluva Hospital. The bus remained at the scene under police guard while arrangements were made to tow it away.
Authorities in Arua District opened an investigation, with preliminary findings pointing to unlawful overtaking as the likely cause. Police also said the driver had been arrested and was being held at Arua Central Police Division while inquiries continued. The incident adds to wider concern about road safety on busy routes in the West Nile sub-region, where crashes involving overtaking, motorcycles and major highways remain a recurring problem. Road safety officials have repeatedly urged motorists to be cautious and to respect speed limits and road conditions.
