Nigeria: Ekiti Chiefs Pledge One Million Votes for Tinubu in 2027

What the report says
The Association of Ekiti Traditional Chieftaincy Title Holders has said it will work to deliver one million votes for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027. The pledge was made in Ado-Ekiti at a meeting hosted by Oyetunde Ojo, managing director of the Federal Housing Authority, where traditional title holders from across Ekiti State voiced support for the Tinubu administration and called for continued implementation of its policies.
According to Vanguard, the association’s chairman, Chief Oluwole Ogunsakin, framed the target as a grassroots mobilisation effort spanning towns, villages, families and local groups. He said members would encourage eligible voters to take part peacefully in the electoral process. Ogunsakin also raised concern about insecurity and argued that traditional leaders could help strengthen community-level security because of their close ties to residents.
The group backed proposals for state police and suggested that chiefs should have a role in screening or recommending credible local recruits. Ojo praised the administration’s road projects and appointments, while also saying security was improving. Former Ekiti governor Segun Oni and ex-lawmaker Bimbo Daramola also urged support for Tinubu and described the mobilisation effort as important to his second-term prospects. The event also included the conferment of a patron title on Ojo for his community work.
