Sudan: 'This Is Not About Politics. This Is About People' - UN Warns of Impact of Deadly Drone Strikes in Sudan

What the report says
UN officials say a recent escalation of drone strikes in Sudan is hitting civilian infrastructure and worsening an already severe humanitarian crisis. In remarks carried by UN News and republished by AllAfrica, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Denise Brown said attacks on power, fuel and water systems are disrupting essential services and endangering civilians across parts of the country.
Brown said hospitals have been affected by blackouts, including one facility near Khartoum where dialysis treatment was interrupted for patients after electricity failed. She also pointed to fuel shortages that have left aid trucks stranded and caused long queues in Khartoum, adding that the disruption is also affecting livelihoods such as transport workers who depend on daily fuel access. The UN says markets, displacement sites and other civilian areas have also been struck.
The UN official said aid agencies are trying to keep supplies moving despite the risks, but operations are constrained by insecurity, damaged supply lines and some administrative delays. She said the humanitarian response is focused on saving lives amid war, displacement, food insecurity and rising malnutrition, especially in conflict-affected areas such as Darfur and Kordofan.
Brown called on the international community and those involved in the fighting to help stop the attacks and protect civilians. Her warning underscores how the conflict is now affecting basic services, healthcare delivery and aid access, with broader consequences for people already displaced by Sudan’s war.
