Singer Eddy Kenzo has commented on a public dispute involving Bebe Cool and a group of creatives who say they have not been paid for work carried out during Uganda’s recent presidential campaigns, according to Sqoop Uganda. The disagreement has widened in recent days as artists, bloggers and other campaign workers associated with Bebe Cool have raised complaints about unpaid services.

Kenzo, who led a separate team of creatives during the campaign period, said he sympathises with those making the claims and believes their work deserved recognition. He said he saw the effort of some of the creatives firsthand as they travelled across the country during the campaign. However, he said he would not step in directly because he was not part of that camp and because of his history with Bebe Cool.

The singer said any formal help would depend on the affected creatives bringing their concerns to him officially in his role as a presidential adviser on creatives. Sqoop Uganda reported that Kenzo described the issue as one that may still be resolved, while noting that he had not received an official complaint.

The comments add to a long-running strained relationship between Kenzo and Bebe Cool, a dynamic that has often been visible in Uganda’s music industry.
