Rubanda Officials Inspect Health Projects, Promise Better Services

What the report says
Rubanda district leaders have inspected several health projects aimed at improving service delivery as demand for care rises in the area, according to Nile Post. The visit covered Bufundi Health Centre III, where renovation and expansion are under way; Rubanda General Hospital, which is being built; and Mpungu Health Centre III, where tiling and other renovation work is ongoing.
The district team said the exercise was meant to check progress, quality and whether public money is being used effectively. District health officials also framed the inspections as follow-up on earlier council decisions. At Bufundi, health and social services secretary Obed Mutatiina Kitabutuka said the district is considering upgrading the facility to Health Centre IV because of the growing number of inpatients. He said the planned upgrade would bring a theatre, dental unit and more staff, while current works include expanding the maternity ward and improving the outpatient department.
District health officer David Mporampora praised health workers but urged stronger discipline and customer care. Resident district commissioner Senyojo Kyeyune also backed the projects while warning staff against asking patients for money, describing that practice as illegal. At Rubanda General Hospital, senior clinical officer Messiah Asasira said better staffing and supplies had increased monthly deliveries from about 40 to 120, and said the hospital project was about 40% complete with plastering and roofing in progress.
The officials said continued monitoring will be needed to ensure the projects are completed to standard and that the new facilities translate into better care for residents.
