Kenya: Masked Gunmen Abduct Nairobi Lawyer Along Muchai Drive

What the report says
Nairobi lawyer Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi was reportedly abducted in the early hours of 1 November in Kilimani, along Muchai Drive, according to Capital FM as distributed by AllAfrica. The report says armed, masked men in tactical-style clothing and some appearing to wear police uniforms and bulletproof vests pursued his car and forced him into another vehicle.
Witness accounts cited in court papers described two vehicles, including a black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TX and a black double-cabin pickup, trailing Abdi before he was removed from his white Toyota Premio. His vehicle was later found abandoned nearby and taken to Kilimani Police Station, while security footage reportedly captured the seizure. His phones have remained off, and his current whereabouts are unknown.
The disappearance has raised concern because Abdi is said to be a witness in a case involving senior police officers. Former Law Society of Kenya president Eric Theuri said Abdi had previously faced threats and urged top security officials to help secure his release. The family has also sought habeas corpus relief in the Milimani High Court and wants independent investigations, while police say they are investigating. More broadly, the case adds to continuing public unease in Kenya over alleged abductions linked to suspected state actors, though that broader pattern was not independently established in the report.
