Jinja RCC Accuses Radio Presenter Nakapachu of Defrauding Job Seekers

What the report says
Jinja Resident City Commissioner Salim Kumakech has ordered the closure of the Nakapachu Foundation offices in Jinja City amid allegations that radio presenter Resty Nanteza, widely known as Nakapachu, collected money from job seekers for overseas work but did not secure the promised employment. According to Nile Post, Kumakech said his office had received more than 30 complaints from people in Jinja and nearby districts, with some claiming they paid between Shs500,000 and Shs4.5 million for jobs in Arab countries.
The complaints, as described by the RCC, came from residents in districts including Buyende, Mayuge, Namayingo and Bugiri. He said some applicants had waited for years for passports, travel documents or job placements that never materialized. Kumakech, who also chairs the Jinja City Security Committee, said the shutdown of the offices along Gabula Road was meant to protect the public while the allegations were addressed. He also said some related case files were at Jinja Central Police Station, though those claims were not independently verified in the report.
Nanteza denied wrongdoing and said she would sue Kumakech and Town Clerk Godfrey Kisseka, arguing the offices were closed illegally. She said she had also been defrauded by some labour recruitment companies and later changed how payments were handled. The article says her explanation points to the involvement of third-party labour externalisation firms, but the specific arrangements were not established. The dispute highlights ongoing concerns about overseas job schemes and the use of intermediaries in labour recruitment.
