What the report says

Israel’s Central Elections Committee has certified the results of last week’s parliamentary election after rejecting fraud allegations raised by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s allies, according to Al Jazeera. The panel said a review of 9,069 polling stations found no irregularities that would have affected the integrity of the vote or altered the outcome. The decision came on 4 November 2026 and followed complaints from Likud and other Netanyahu supporters who have claimed, without evidence, that the election was stolen.

The committee’s five-member presidium split along party lines, with representatives from Yesh Atid and Blue and White backing certification, while Likud and Shas abstained. Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, who chaired the body, cast the deciding vote. Al Jazeera reported that the election results were sent to President Isaac Herzog, who is now holding consultations with party leaders to determine who should be asked to try to form the next government.

The dispute comes amid broader coalition uncertainty in Israel. Based on the reported seat totals, Netanyahu’s bloc won 53 seats, while Gadi Eisenkot’s camp won 48 and the Arab-led Ra’am and Joint List secured 19. None reached the 61-seat threshold needed to govern, leaving open the possibility of a unity government, an agreement involving Arab parties, or a new election if no coalition can be assembled.

Al Jazeera also noted related tensions involving the Shin Bet, the attorney general, and far-right politicians calling for arrests and delays to certification. Those claims were reported as part of the political fallout, but the core decision was the election commission’s move to uphold the results and keep the government formation process moving forward.
