What the report says

Bomb threats sent to at least seven flights across Europe and one Israel-bound cruise ship triggered emergency responses on Tuesday, but officials said no explosive devices were found. The incidents involved airlines including Ryanair, Wizz Air, Scandinavian Airlines and LOT, with planes landing safely in Poland, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and the UK. In several cases, aircraft were inspected on arrival, while some flights were diverted or escorted by fighter jets.

According to Al Jazeera’s report, the most disruptive episodes included a temporary runway closure at Warsaw Chopin Airport, a diversion to Warsaw Modlin, and Italian Air Force jets escorting a Ryanair flight into Rome’s Fiumicino Airport. In Spain, emergency procedures were activated for a Ryanair flight that landed in Murcia, while in Bulgaria two planes were checked after landing in Sofia. In Greece, the coast guard said the Panama-flagged Crown Iris was evacuated off Syros after a threat, with no device discovered.

Authorities in the affected countries said the alerts proved false, and no one immediately claimed responsibility. The reports came after a similar bomb threat on a separate flight the previous day. The article notes that European officials have recently been warning about so-called “hybrid” disruption tactics, though no blame was assigned for these threats. Aviation specialists cited in the report said the pattern was unusual because it appeared aimed at causing broad disruption rather than targeting one airline or route.
