What the report says

Russian missile and drone attacks hit a hospital in Kharkiv and energy infrastructure across several regions of Ukraine overnight, leaving at least 73 people injured, according to Al Jazeera’s report citing Ukrainian officials. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a city clinical hospital was directly struck, damaging a cardiology department and injuring patients and staff. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the facility suffered heavy damage, including shattered windows, after the bombardment.

The report said power-generation facilities and substations were also targeted in regions including Odesa, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv and Rivne. Ukrainian officials described the operation as a large, coordinated assault involving hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles. In Russia’s account, the Defence Ministry said it had targeted electricity sites in several Ukrainian regions that it said supported the Ukrainian military.

The strikes caused further disruption to Ukraine’s power system. Officials in Zhytomyr said more than 180,000 people were without electricity on Tuesday morning, while Odesa introduced scheduled outages. The attacks followed another deadly Russian strike a day earlier on an aid distribution site, underscoring the continuing toll on civilians and infrastructure.

Al Jazeera also reported that the violence comes as the United States increases diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war, with talks involving US, Russian and Ukrainian officials expected next week.
